    veggie tree delight thai restaurant, crows nest

    We were driving past around Crows Nest area some weeks ago with my husband and I -as the non-driving party- noticed a restaurant sign saying Jackie Khan vegetarian. This is a small place with only six tables, run by a husband & wife team. Jackie is the name of the wife and Khan is the surname of the husband –although the sign outside now says Veggie Tree Delight – Thai Vegetarian House.

    We dropped by last night to this lovely place last night which is located just across the road from Taste Organic Wholefoods –another place to explore- and not far from all the hustle bustle of Crows Nest restaurant area. Like most vegetarian Thai places this is a vegan restaurant. On top of that, they do not use garlic, onions or MSG. What they use in their dishes, though, is Lamyong products –mostly anyway.

    Now we seem to be getting more home delivery as we live nearby. Here’s what we tried so far…

    Roasted Duck Curry 
    A silky smooth curry with soy duck, little pieces of tofu, pineapple, cherry tomato, capsicum and lychee.

    Soy Chicken with Lemongrass 
    Stir fried soy chicken with homemade chilli paste and green bean, carrot, zucchini and snow peas topped with lemon grass strips.

    (for $9.50 you get 2 pieces each of these entrees)
    Curry puff
    Spring rolls
    Fried tofu
    Golden parcels

    Crispy Soy with Black Pepper Sauce
    This was the first dish we tried. It is made with Lamyong Vegetarian Crispy Soy Slices which is quite savoury and the sauce they are coated in is definitely home-made.

    Crispy Duck Salad
    Vegetarian duck with celery, cucumber, carrot, peanut with chilli and lime dressing. Just love the soapy smell of this salad, so fragrant yet not overpowering. Quite delicate actually.

    Satay
    Soy chicken served with peanut sauce.

    Hor Mok
    Vegetarian seafood steamed with tofu, mushroom, lime leaves, vegetables, coconut milk and fresh herbs in curry sauce.

    Authentic Thai dish which is stir-fried mixed vegetables with vegan oyster sauce.

    Soft Tofu with Sweet Chilli Sauce
    A colourful dish of tofu fried with rich spicy sauce and bocchoi.
