sydney dining: SoCal – neutral bay Ayshim, 11 April 202616 April 2026 I was talking to my next-door neighbour many years ago while we were standing outside on the street. She told me that she and her husband got married in Las Vegas, and that she had the best margarita there. She thought it was the best because that was before she tried a margarita at SoCal in Neutral Bay. I was intrigued… … and that’s how we started to go to SoCal. The decor is quite Mexican: colourful. It’s quite a vibey place and can be noisy sometimes, but we love the food and their covered outdoor area. The Food at SoCal They do Southern Californian-style food—hence the name. Their tacos are quite popular, especially on a Tuesday night. You can check out their menu here. They change their menu every now and then, so there are different taco flavours. We tried dishes other than tacos, but the photos didn’t turn out well, so I didn’t post them here. What else is good at SoCal? Their guacamole and shoestring fries, I’d say. The Drinks at SoCal My husband likes his Italian plastic, and I prefer my margarita because it goes well with Mexican food. The Desserts at SoCal One word: churros. Say no more. Mind you, we may have tried something else once—the proof is in the photos—but they don’t do it anymore by the looks of things. life in sydney
