    dining in byron bay: yulli’s

    Ayshim, 19 February 202619 February 2026

We heard about Yulli’s because they have a branch in Sydney but after all those years of living in Sydney, we never really got around to go and try it. It was time to try at least their Byron Bay restaurant since we were there. It’s funny how these things work.

In the end, we had two meals at Yulli’s in Byron Bay: lunch and dinner.

I must admit, the photos I took at lunchtime have better light than the ones I took at dinner time.

Let me start with the ambience: retro.

    The Food
Like their Sydney branch, their Byron Bay is 100% vegan. Their plant-based menu is modern Asian and dishes are matched with a diverse vegan wine list, local spirits and cocktails, plus of course Yulli’s Brews range of craft beers, cider, kombucha and other beverages.

Here’s what we had at Yulli’s Byron Bay:

    • Steamed leek and ginger dumplings with chilli soy and plum sauce
    • Sesame crumbed shiitake mushrooms with spicy walnut mince served on a pickled cucumber with a capsicum emulsion
    • Kratong tong, crispy charcoal wonton wrappers, filled with water chestnuts, peanuts, corn, coconut jam & fresh herbs (below)

At the end of two visits to Yulli’s in Byron Bay, we promised ourselves to go and try their Sydney branch on our return because we really enjoyed their menu in Byron Bay.

Unfortunately, Yulli’s Byron Bay is now permanently closed. However, their Sydney branch is still going and strong.
