    celebrated our 21st wedding anniversary at yellow

    Things have changed over the years—especially during COVID—about how we celebrate important days like birthdays or wedding anniversaries. We kind of slowed down a bit for the sake of protecting ourselves but I always say: life does not wait. Whenever you get a chance, do something different, get out of your comfortable environment and make an effort to celebrate milestones. Like we did on our 21st wedding anniversary.

    For this year’s anniversary dinner, I first had a look at Bentley’s menu and then checked Yellow’s and decided that Yellow’s menu had fresher flavours, more spring-y. So, the decision was made!

    And once again we went for the wine pairing to go along with their vegan tasting menu. It adds to the total, but you wouldn’t do it every week so, why not?

    Even though we hadn’t been back to Yellow since last year—it was our birthdays—their sommelier recognised us and as a token of their appreciation, we were served something extra without charge. And it was Mushroom Skewer + Whipped Tofu + Chilli (as seen below).

    Cucumber + Mandarin Kosho + Puffed Quinoa
    Buckwheat Pancake + Fennel Slaw
    Cos lettuce Soup + Curry Oil

    Sugar Snap + Sunflower Seed Ricotta + Green Pea Dressing
    Artichoke Custard + Gordal Olive + Tomato Broth
    Braised Leek + Green Garlic + Potato Sauce
    Smoked Carrot + Hazelnut + Sprouted Barley + Nasturtium

    Fig Leaf Sorbet + Macerated Blueberry
    Muscovado Ice Cream + Mango + Salted Caramel

    Once again, Yellow delivered! This was a fantastic menu with fresh flavours—just like I wanted. The wine pairing and the service, all were spectacular.
